Two 55 gallon tanks on top of each other?

Would it be possible to stack 2 55 gallon tanks on top of each other? How could I build a wooden stand to accomplish this?

I've already built the standard 2x4 stand for a single 55, but not sure how I would design this...

The ultimate goal would have a bottom tank with pool filter sand, rocks, plants etc. and a tank on top meant for more little free swimming fish with few decorations/cover to simulate closer to the surface of a river.

Ive built a couple of stacked setups, most recently for 75 gallon tanks, and then i modified it to put a 150 on top.

double 4' tank stand.

decided to try a cheap, simple, stylish stand that i could fit two 75/90/110 tanks on, with potential to put up to two 120 gallon tanks on later. wanted to start a build thread to hear ideas or suggestions as i went along. used 2x12 for columns, 2x6 for beams, 2x4 for all supports with 3.5"...

Its easily done with 2x4s. Just make sure the beams supporting the top tank are supported with beams running down to the floor. The stand will have to be a little wider than the tanks to accommodate the bottom tank.

If it was me, i would build it with 4x4s though.

Lol its a long running joke on this forum that the regulars of the diy board usually have a couple of screws floating loose. Its probably my favorite section of the site.
