We have a 10 gallon brackish tank with three bumblebee gobies, a violet(dragon) goby, and two nerite snails.

We are currently cycling a 75 gallon tank to set up as a brackish tank as well.

How should we stock these tanks? I'm thinking of putting one figure 8 puffer in the 10 gallon by itself, and filling the 75 gallon with bumblebee gobies, one violet goby, orange chromides, monos, and I don't know what else.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated, thanks!

Sounds like the bumble bee gobies might be a bad idea. My monos love guppies and smaller mollies so they would probably get eaten after a while. I would suggest fan-dancer gobies and I definitely like the chromides.

Okay so maybe skip the monos. Or maybe keep the bumblebee gobies in the 10 gallon tank in a smaller more peaceful setup?

Fan-Dancer goby, is that the same as a Knight goby? They have some at my LFS and they are pretty cool.

Other ideas??

F8s need a minimum of 15g & with any tank mates, you'd need to go even larger. The 10g wold make a nice set up for a gaggle of BBGs.

The 75g should be fun to set up. Monos like to be kept in schools & grow as large as your outstretched hand. That would require around 300-600g for a nice school of them. But you could do a really nice community BW tank with a tank your size. The dragon goby & maybe a couple more, a few F8s, Knight gobies, kribensis, halfbeaks, glassfish (non-dyed please!) & probably a few others.

Oops it's actually a 20 gallon. tall, heavily planted. But thanks everyone. For the 75 I want to get some orange chromides, a knight goby, and a puffer. What's the prettiest puffer? The ones I've seen look dark and boring. Any bright colored puffers?

You don't have a lot of choices, if you're going community. The F8 puffer is the prettiest BW puffer & holds it colors/patterns into adulthood. Good luck finding orange chromides.

fish in dealers tanks never show their full potential colours and patterns as their normally quite stressed due to ridicules numbers in the tanks and stress of settling in

My pet store is the only store I know that quarantines their fish when they first arrive, and has a crew on staff that just works with sick fish and with breeding. These guys definitely aren't stressed. It could be the black gravel is not a good choice for highlighting the color of fig 8's and green spots.
