two dead koi

hi i lost two koi today! got pond not sure size will get back to you on that,
live in scotland it had started to warm up here but couple of days ago the temp dropped again could this be why?? it was two of our small babies .
we got about thirty koi and two sturgeons
 
yes filtered depth is 1.9 meteres just thought it strange they survived the coldest weather like -6 and now it warming up we lost two ! the temp was up to 7 then dropped to -3 ish
this is the air temp out side not water temp by the way! chilly scotland
 
Did you check the bodys for ulsers or any parasites?
 
may have just been the climate difference, if you have had a warm spell the n cold suddenly, could be that, im in hull, and its gone from snowy to sunny in the same days stupid weatehr
 
Where about in Scotland was it?
 
do you keep the filter running in the winter ?
im in edinburgh and my small koi have been fine .
 
yes filter been on none stop! i am near aberdeen just thought it strange all winter they fine then two the same day! not sure if they were fed when it warmed up would this make a difference? we had to keep feeding sturgenons all winter but with sinking pellets.
