Can two fx5s be plumbed together the outlet of one to the inlet of a second using the pump on one and the second filter used primarily for bio media? I cannot hang a third fx5 or a hob becAuse of how my tank rim is made and id like more biom media

dont think it would be a good idea to have one powered on and i doubt just one will have the power to push water through 2 canisters. cant you hook both of them up to the same tank?

as stated above, i am already running two fx5s wanting to run a third to increase bacteria but there is no room bc of how my tank rim is built. please do not menthion running a sump, its out of the question. i am simply asking can 2 fx5s be run together.

you either have one powered on to push water thru two canisters, the flow will be less but who knows maybe it's possible. but if you power both that are connected i think it might damage the pumps when there's a mis match of flow thru the canisters like creating some kinda negative pressure

The pump on the FX5 could run both units. But that is a lot of tinkering. If you have it figured out how to do it then give it a try. But I definitely know the pump can handle the water

I don't see why it couldn't work! Just plumb the out of one to the in of the other and turn it on.
What's it going to hurt to try but I would do it outside first. Just in case something went wrong.
