I was looking at the Kissing Gourami's at Pet Smart today and they all seem to be laying around. Is this normal? All the other gourami's in the tank where all swimming along "normaly" but not the 3 kissers I wanted. Their only about 2-2.5 inches long. Is this behavior normal?

Also, they had these two other fish I was interrested in. It looked like a gourami but it had no name tag... Heres the discription: 3 inches long, gourami body shape, green/grey back with a black stripe on each side of the fish. Silverish belly. Does anyone know what fish I'm describing?

Thanks

Z

1. The kissers do lie on the bottom but also enjoy a swim in that makes sense. We one have one left out of the 3 we bought several years ago, it spends a good deal of time on the bottom, sort of chilling out is the best way to describe it but it does enjoy a swim around as well.

2. sounds like a pearl gourami, I'll see if I can locate a pic and get back to you

Thanks. Sometime this weekend I might be buying those kissers.

Ya, I'm going to go with the ID of the mystery fish as a pearl gourami. The colours are different then the nicer ones on the internet, thats what thruw me off.

You do tend to get better colours depending on the tank lights, if memory serves it's the male that has the red underbelly but don't quote me it's been a few years since I had any. I had four around 5-6' which is about max size.

The kissers are a strange looking fish, they look better the bigger they are when the are kept in numbers 6-8, just my opinion go with what you feel is right. Minimum 2 though they like being together, our remaining one has got shyer since it's been on its own(no other kissers in the tank).

Glad I could help
