I just bought a two inch red flower horn to put in my tank with two 2 inch peacock bass....will this work, i don't expect it to be long term....How big will the flower horn get....how much are they worth ?

what two cichlids are flower horns a hybrid of??????

Yeah it should work for a while, but eventually the PBass will get huge and eat the FH. Good Luck!

How big is your tank? THey wont get too agressive until about 3 - 6 inches.. but if the tank is big enough then maybe?

for part one. I don't think you need to worry about your flowerhorn getting eaten and depends on the quality of fish that determines price. How much did you pay for yours?

Part two, I don't think anybody is exactly sure what theyre a mix of but trimac is generally regarded as being a part of the flowerhorn mix

found this:
Flowerhorn, also called Luohan, is a breed of fish. Flowerhorns are thought to arise from the man-made hybridization of a number of cichlid species, from South and Central America. Most notably flowerhorns include Cichlasoma trimaculatum and fishes from the Amphilophus citrinellus (red devil) complex. Flowerhorns first emerged for sale on the aquarium market in Malaysia in the late 1990s. As a probable intergeneric hybrid the fish lacks a specific Latin name. Flowerhorns are, unlike many other hybrids, fertile.

Other notable inclusions in the flowerhorns breeding are Cichlasoma festae and Vieja synspilus ('Redheaded' cichlid). Only the original breeders know exactly which species they crossbred to create the Flowerhorn cichlid. Given the vast amount of mixing, it is doubtful any recorded details of hybridisations exist

says a few species they used for the fh

well there were these ones for 9.99 but he told me they wont be as expensive when older...he told me to get the ones that were going for 28.99....these ones did look alot better though....check out what he looks like in my other thread.

I would be more worried about the P-bass then the FH. P-bass aren't very aggressive at all until they get over 10"......And even then they will get harrased by aggressive cichlids. My P-bass are constantly being harrased by my RedDevil,Butikoferi and Jardini Arowana..........And my Bass are about 8" and everything else 6-7" so in my experience P-bass seem to be vunerable to aggresive cichlids attacks. Now also IMO FlowerHorns and Trimacs are the meanest of cichlids that i've ever kept. So since they are both small it might work but once that FH gets some size on him that P-bass is going to get pounded. I'd try some more bass and maybe some big catfish or bichirs to loosen things up a bit between the 2.......But make sure you have the tankspace for these monsters because if things are cramped you will surely have problems....

I got my flowerhorn four months ago and he was like 8.95. When I got home I looked them up on the internet, and it said it was a hybrid breed of Jack Dempsey, some Oscar, Red Devil. Now my flowerhorn has breed with my parrot fish and they have eggs in a shell. But they are known in the Chinas as Good Luck and they bring the owners wealth.
