Ive had my female for about 6 months now and with my new tank being set up soon, i got her a mate, albeit a much smaller one than her big ass. Tried to get pics of both singly and then when introduced, within the hour they were already clearing a spot.
But, Alas the peaceful tank OR cold war tank was finally turned into WW3 when they were introduced and the butti was not having it. He put up a incredible fight and after the tank was reset up peace lasted for a short time. But the big striped fish was just too much and too pissed so Back to a different tank he goes until the other is set up  another short lived romance.

That female looks like she's ready to drop a BUNCH of eggs! Both are very nice!

thanks. She eats quite well. Soon as i get the new tank set up and them moved in back together i imagine ill have more fry than i know what to do with.

There are few fish who can live in anything under 210 gallons with a breeding pair of Jags ...buttikoferi are not one of them. You run into the problem of either a fish your jags will eventually destroy when breeding...or a fish that will kill your jags. either way you lose.

the butti is in a 106. its his tank, Him and the female actually get along pretty well. hell have it pretty much to himself when the other tank goes up.
the jag pair will be getting a 220. just waiting on a few things to come in. I do appreciate the concern. The male is back in a grow out for the time being.
