Two Leichardti?

I recently picked up a baby leichardti that's about 4 inches long. It was a xmas gift to myself. He's eating a diet of white clouds and frozen blood worms. I'm debating whether to get a second leichardti of the same size (since I've been extra good this year ) and house them together. They both would be raised in a 29g as youngsters and eventually be housed in a 180g.

Would both of them be okay being raised together?

I wouldn't reccomend keeping two arowanas together. Although I have never kept leichardti, I know the asians and silvers that I've kept do better either by themselves or in groups. Good find on the leichardti! I've always wanted one

I had 2 3"leichartis and they were fine together till a catfish smaller than them gorged himself with them. it was unreal and I just didn't know what to say?? He, the catfish, had a $350 meal. I have never had a $50 one. Don't ever trust catfish with your fish, especially expensive ones, I learned the hard way with many others i'm sure!

That's definitely an expensive meal. I would be speechless too if it happened to me.

Since Hawaii don't allow any asian arowanas to be imported, the leichardti is the rarest arowana to be raised here. Although, I doubt I could let myself spend thousands of dollars on an asian gold or red. Raising one leichardti is nice but having two seems even cooler.

I think I'll make a visit the to LFS tomorrow, pickup a second one and hope all goes well (fingers crossed). I'll keep you guys posted and have some photos up in a couple of days.

I picked up the second leichardti last night. It was slightly larger than the first one I had. Luckily, the second leichardti was recently fed at the LFS and had a full stomach before I brought it home.

After keeping it for 24 hours in the same tank, I notice that there was some fin nipping amonst the two of them. Looks like the smaller one is a bit more aggressive than the newbie. Instead of taking any chances, I decided to separate them. The larger, newer arowana is now in with my school of clown loaches in the 75g. I hoping to place them together again in the future after some growth with very close monitoring.

I've had previous success housing a silver with a jardini. Interestingly, the silver was always the dominate one and the jardini never showed any aggression towards the silver or any of the other tankmates. Hopefully, I'll be able to have the same success housing these two in the future.

i would say the longer aros are kept on their own the harder it will be to add another
