At first mine would eat bloodworm and smallbits of prawn but then started stealing my jack dempseys pellets so he loves floating sticks. I think anything he can stalk on the surface and then grab seems to go down well
Hmmmm....i bought them on eBay and the seller insisted they were spotted.... Doesn't matter to me except I don't want one that I have to rehome some day as that seems shameful, and the spotted gar is fairly compact.....It's hard to tell but these may be floridas
