Have a 55 gallong set up and figured I would like to go with an African set up.

Also how fast do these guys grow? I wan to add ropefish but they are about 10-12 inchs or so, and i dont wan the sengals to become food.

Depends on their genetics heavily, but you can expect anywhere between .5 to 1" + per month, until around 6-8", then it will slow down until they top out between 12 to 14"

Even at their current size, you can add a ropefish without worry. Ropes have small mouths.

I would wait on the rope till the senegals are about 4.5" or so which depending on food consumption could be has early has a month to month and a half.
Nice new pickups and 55 doesn't look bad.

Congrats! Yeah maybe add more plants and some hidey spots.

Since the tank is so big and the Sens so tiny, I would make it a habit to also always use the same drop spot for food to make it easier for them to find food. They have a problem with that when so small and the tank so big.

Tiny little sens are damn cute if I say so myself!
LFS were I'm going to start working soon has some sens about that size...
so tempting!

Good luck with yours!

Speaking of food.... Ive been feeding them blood worms? anything eles these little guys would eat?

bear in mind the size of the fish in relation to foodsmall fish=small foods or pieces of food
The freezer at your local fish store is a smorgasboard of foods which should include
silversides or lancefish
mysis shrimp
brine shrimp
krill
bloodworms
squid
beefheart
Simply thaw and feed
they aren't to small to add a quality pellet into the food mix you might have to halve or quarter them first-Anne

Congrats on the new pickups! I just got 2 senegals on Sunday and they are about the same size as yours. So far, mine like bloodworms and beefheart. It's so funny to watch them tear into the beefheart!
Good luck with them!
