I got a blueberry and a regular silver from my uncle for giving him my pacu and channel cat. The blueberry is smaller at about 5 inches while the silver is about 6-7 inches. I put them both in my 125. I have some dried red shrimp? Should I use that or try to get them to eat pellets?

Best bet is to get them on pellets as they're probably the best all around food for any fish. As for what venomspeed said, live feeders are probably the worst diet for any fish. Unless your raising your own feeders and gut loading them prior to eating and in my opinion that's a lot of work for no benefit. I'd only do that if I had a fish that absolutely refused anything but live. Also I gotta ask what is a blueberry? Do you mean blue/black arowana or is there aro's now being dyed as well?

x2.

And yes, there are dyed arowanas out there, and it's probably a dyed one.

There are tons of benefits to home grown feeders. If you take it serious, and feed the feeders well. I prefer guppies, convicts, cray fish, and different types of worms. Just have fun and take care of your fish.

Blueberry is a dyed arowana. The dye will wear off soon and you have a silver.

(1) Live feeder fish are basically the WORST possible diet for arowana's. I don't care if you use guppys or gold-fish, they all contain thiamesse. In short, the chemical thiamesse stops vitamin b1 absorption, eventually causing neurological disorders. Basically, just don't use them.

(2) I wouldn't use the dried red shrimp. Instead of dried, go buy some frozen krill from your lfs. Arowana's love it and it's basically the most natural diet you can get for them. If you pick the right one, pellets/sticks can be good but I wouldn't use them as a staple. Use a combination of krill, prawns and pellets/sticks and you should be good.
