i have two peacock bass... had three, rambo killed the third off... rambo has now quadrupled in size where as the other one has only doubled... rambo also killed off the third and i fear is now working on taking out the last other peacock. while rambo keeps growing at an alarming rate the other one, who actually eats more aggressivly, is growing slowly. does anyone have any advice on how to get the smaller one to start catching up not involving another tank, and does anyone have any advice on how to get rambo from messing with my poor little guy! i would get rid of rambo, but he is turning out to be a damn good looking fish!

DO you know what species each one is? Monoculus, Ocellaris...etc.? At that rate is sounds as if Rambo might be a tem.... but it could be other factors. How big are they currently and do you have any pics?

what size is the tank? You can try add other fish as dithers to help spread out the agression..

yeah if they are the species and getting the same amount of food that shouldnt happen

maybe its bad genes which is why the other guy is growing so slowly?
if you knew RAMBO was a killer whyd you still keep those two together?
try getting dithers, more pbass,or seperate them...

I would take Rambo out and put him in a much smaller tank for about a month he needs to calm done. I once read that the fastest growing (also needs to be the biggest) fish will release some kind of chemical or hormone that will slow down the other fishes growth. As to wether this is true or not, I don't know.

thanks for all the responses guys, i am pretty darn sure they are the same species(mon) i will post some pics when i get a hold of my roommates camera... as far as dithers go, i did that with an older batch of peacocks and the more aggressive eater of that bunch ened up trying to eat them... did a good job on a few then choked out on the last one. i have a tiger shovel and an ornate bircher also with them, it is a 130 long tank for their first year or so. as i said i really do not want to split them up because another tank right now is not in the budget...

what kind of dithers did you use before?

comparable size tiger barbs... that was a while back and they were smaller peacocks back then, what would you guys recommend for a dither when they are around 4 inches long?
