I have two baby segs and I want them to stay the whitish tan color and I have 2 segs that are dark grey if I put them in a new tank with white sand will the greys fade to whitish tan or will they stay grey? And for the poly owners that live feed their clumsy hunters do you feed them African dwarf frogs. ( for all the people who feed them pellets the frog is apart of their diet don't tell me about live feeding is bad, I want to watch them hunt and acts if they were actually in the wild. I'll post up some pictures also to get a more definite answers. I should have said 3 just thought of one more does anybody have an albino 9 inches or bigger >today is clean tank day also<

I'd stay away from live food but do what u like and I u do feed live good luck getting them to eat anything that's not live .... White sand or light color would make them light colored
I quarantine and get the feeders from a bait shop but I know the guy real well he breeds silvershads in a huge tank. And they'll only sniff the pellets tried 3 times with different kinds no luck they only eat fresh cut tilapia and shrimp I include that in their diet

I feed mine mostly pellets (nls, massivore) or cut tilapia, swai, or shrimp. Treats I give them include quarantined minnows from my pond, bullfrog tadpoles, crayfish, and worms. Or if I'm away.

The black sand will bring out the dark gray coloration. The white sand will bring out the whitish/light toned coloration that you desire. However each individual is different so while black sand will darken them up and white will lighten them up, one may get darker or lighter than another. While yes you can feed live food because it's "part of their natural diet" it's not as beneficial as pellets. The reason pellets are starting to become a better option to live feeders is because brands like hikari and NLS are starting to multiply the protein without your fish having to digest bones and such. Basically giving your fish a more beneficial meal.

Okay so bullfrog tadpoles are safe and sounds about right they just don't eat the pellets they didn't eat them when they were small so I never fed them and now it just decomposes in my tank

You guys are making sense with the pellets but the best they'll do is frozen but I've had my segs for six months my biggest is 11 inches(Frankenstein), then my other grey bichir is 9 inches(Jack the Ripper), my albino is 8.5 inch (Dracula or Vlad) and my delhezi I got about 3 months ago is 6 inches( Lawrence Talbot) and I hear they supposed to grow an inch a month I think mine are getting enough with the feeders and the fresh market fish section

what size crayfish and do you take them out the shell?

You probably won't see much more growth out of the sens and the deal will grow a lot slower than 1" per month at that size. While they may not accept pellets now, you have to make them since you've hooked them on live food. Once polys are hooked on live food they have to most times be trained back onto pellets.
