My baby corn snake, maybe a few months old or so, likes to hide in the substrate a lot. Is this normal? I have a couple ornaments, but I'm thinking of getting a cork bark flat too; would my corn snake like that?

Also, I fed my corn snake last sunday, he ate it and all. When should I feed him again, this tuesday or so? (That would be 9 days in between meals).

cork flats are great, and yeah some like to bury in substrate. Are you using a heat mat?

ah i just wondered, sometimes they bury to get closer to the underheat, but that would be just another reason, they do it anyway... not something to worry about anyway. What substrate do you use?

mine is young too, also spends all day under the moss that is on top of the substrate.Toss in some sphagum ,whatever, moss and they will hide but you can still see him.The longer mines been in their he comes out more now.He even kicked it for hours on a big branch one day. They come out alot at night.glad its eating.

Aspen, thanks.

Thanks too, jason.

You shouldnt use a heat lamp as corns do not bask they absorb the heat through their stomachs! and as for the feeding 9 days seems a bt to stretched out for a baby, babies should be fed every 6-7 days. And yes it is normal for them to burrow.

Don't worry about how many days in between feeding. Just keep a regular schedule.

With my snakes, every Saturday is feeding day, and I feed them all once a week. For the ones that need the big diet, I ration them. Like my male boa can eat 300g every two weeks, but I rationed it into 150g every week.

More expensive maybe, but it is easier to keep track of who is eating in my opinion.

the heat lamp is fine, its also for raising the air temp in the cage.If they have rocks under the lamp it also warms those up.
