I've been using this overflow for around 4 years and really haven't had many issues. At the beginning I discovered that my pump was not strong enough to keep both tubes primed. Adding some hose into one tube to shrink it's size worked great. Fast forward to 4 years later, one side will not stay primed no matter what I try. I'm assuming that maybe my pump has become weaker with age? So I'm looking at possibly replacing the pump with something that can flow the proper rate. The Eshopps HOB overflow is rated at 1200 gph. My current pump is rated at 1050 gph max. With the 4.5' of tubing to the outlet, I'm guessing it's probably around 700-800 gph or so (3/4" ID tubing). The pump that I'm looking at is rated for 1500 gph max, so I'm assuming close to the 1100-1200 gph mark once set up. My big question is on the tubing. How much would 3/4" ID tubing hinder a pump with that gph? I could step up to 1" or even 1-1/4" but the options for outlet nozzles, check valves, etc are pretty limited when dealing with tubing.

Alternatively I could add a second smaller pump to bump the flow back up another 200-300 gph. Anyone ever been in my spot? If so what did / would you do?
