two types of red snakehead?

hey all i just bought a 5inch red snakehead for my cichlid community, the guy at the fish store told me there are two types giant and normal, and this one would stop growing around a foot long?

i knew nothing about snakeheads and it was an impulse buy, i knew some got big but never knew what a red snakehead was and assumed the giant one he spoke of would look different! all the images of baby red snakeheads are like mine, its about 5 inches with a black/red/black line running down his length...

someone tell me there are two types as he's a really cool fish?

Only one type of Micropeltes, and it is a very large one!
I can tell you now all your cichlids will very soon be on the menu.
Unless you have a pond or a 9ft tank for it alone, I would return it quick!

he's really growin on me too, cant return him till the weekend! cant validate buying him a home its a shame.... the salesman was very confident to, either really believed it or just an being an arse i guess!

You have to think out things to say, to outsmart them sometimes. It sounds like he's really lying to you too. Those sales people always try to convince you to keep the fish, you can't return it, it will grow only as big as your tank allows, blah blah blah. They lie lie and lie some more.

The fact that Diplograma wile not rare, are quite uncommon, and Micropeltes flooding the market all over the world, the cancer are the OP fish is a Micropeltes.

well ive done a little research and mine has blotches along by his dorsal but the red doesnt fade through the black lines... my digi camera is broken or id post some pics.
ive been busy since i bought it and the fs is a half hour drive... i have a rtc now and a 1000g carp holding tank on order which i plan to cut a sheet of perspecs into... maybe he an the rtc can take up residence together eventually.
