Heyo all. Provided I find a home for the male auratus cichlid currently living in the 60gal tank I'm getting, I'm wanting to get myself some eels.

So basically I'm wondering if it'd be possible to comfortably house two zigzags and one peacock in that tank, along with some other little fish for added colour.

And lastly, anyone know of a LFS in Montreal or online distributors that sell these eels and ship to Canada? Haven't visited a LFS in quite a while, but I know I've never seen eels for sale in any of them and I'm not sure if the big one I know of, Aquatica (Previously Big Al's), takes orders.

TIA :)

Idk how well those eels will do together...the tank is plenty big enough imo, but idk if they'd all get along. My zig zag hides all the time...cool fish, but you definitely need some other fish in your tank that will add color and movement.

I was sure I read somewhere that macrognathus can be put together, since they're around the same size. Figured since neither is too aggressive it might work out. It's a pretty big tank and I do want to fill it! Would prefer a fire eel above all else but they're way too big ;)

Good to know the tank is big enough for what I want though, now I just need to find a place that sells 'em!

Haha well petsmart and petco might sell a peacock, but only my lfs sells zig zag, tire track, fire and that sort. Online is always an option also

Unfortunately I'm in Quebec, and as far as I know there are no Petsmarts here :( I'll have to take a look on Google. I tried looking up eel sellers online that would ship to my area too, but no luck thus far.

Idk how people on mfk feel about these sellers, but check out pet solutions.com, liveaquaria.com, oceanstateaquatics.com, aquabid.com. I know a few of those sell eels. And sorry about no petsmart lol. It must be a rough life without one of those :)

ime peacocks are fairly aggressive to other spineys. i would do a trio of one species or the other.

and talk to your local lfs, they are readily available from distributors and fairly inexpensive. it shouldnt be a big issue for them to special order them for you.

Really? I heard peacocks were shy. Perhaps I'll just do two or three of one or the other. Yes I intend to go to Aquaria or what ever it's called and check and see if they might order for me :) Thanks!

I believe MonsterMinis is saying peacocks are aggressive to other kinds of spiney eels, as in dont put a peacock with a zig zag. From my experience (isn't much), peacocks tend to bury themselves more than other types of spineys. My zig zag never buries but will hide in his rock/log.
