Thinking about planning a trip for the family to go up to Guadalupe River for some hiking, tubing and fishing. Was wondering does it exactly have to be at the Guadalupe Park to catch Texas Cichlids or as long as it's the river theres plenty of Texas Cichlids? Would like to hear some experiences on Guadalupe River fishing...

Thanks.

Thanks.

So no one has ever caught a Texas Cichlid?

I fished on the Gaudalupe River by San Antonio, I even got a guide, but all I caught was two rainbow trout. One was 4 lbs, and the guide thought that was great. I was hopeing to ceatch Gaudalupe Bass & Texas Cichlids, so I was unimpressed. I am spoiled by Lake Michigan, and I wanted something different.
I did get a Texas Cichlid in Arizona though last year.

From what I hear they are in the lower parts like Landa Park.

From what I hear, there are many more in the San Marcos River, but let me know how it goes in the Guadelupe. I've never actually caught one so anything I know is just what I've heard.

i lived in san antonio most my life and never heard of getting those out of the guadalupe....still have alot of ex-coworkers ill ask over at bass pro shops and see what they got to say. lets us know if you get some

I catch them in the irrigation ditches, I am a little further south than San Antonio though.
