I have cichlids and one of my yellow labs has fry in her mouth. I set up a 10 gallon for her that way the fry can be released in that tank. But was wondering what type of filtration i need for the fry? I have a under water sponde filter and several hob filters. I will be using water from my main tank to make sure its cycled and old filter media

Ive used covered hob filters in my fry tanks with no problems. i just by filter foam and cut a hole in the middle and slip it on the intake tube. u dont need to buy the one that says prefilter sponge its the same things for twice as much in my experience. others might see it differently. i also highly recommend the sponge filters. i use the deep blue bran ( i think thats what theyre called). they are pretty cheap and run an air pump and tubing.

yea i cut foam sponge from anything to put over intake of HOB,if you can adjust the flow if you think its too much for the fry,air-driven foam filters work great too
