This was labeled "Spotted Pike" in one of my lfs. It looks like some type of northern pike but I'm not sure. Any suggestions and info on size, care, etc?20170925_160435.jpg 20170925_160433.jpg

Not a true pike I believe they also call them peppermint crocodile fish.

That's exactly what it is. Thanks for the name. From what I'm reading it's pretty demanding. It needs soft, acidic water and I have hard, neutral water.
Does anyone have experience keeping them? Any chance of acclimating it to my tank conditions?

Personally never kept one but hopefully it can adjust like some other soft water species.

I guess we'll see. I thought it was some type of northern pike so when my son picked it out we thought it would fit in well with the tank. He originally wanted a knife fish and I was interested in birchirs but we saw this guy and thought he looked unique. He may have to go back to the store though! Don't want to kill him with the wrong water conditions.

That is a great fish hobbyist trait to have concern for the welfare of the Crocodile fish.

Just an update: We returned the crocodile fish to the store the next day and traded him for an albino bichir. The bichir is really interesting to watch and he's doing well with the other inhabitants. Thanks for the id info.
