Type of Wood

I know different woods are used for different things, plus cost, etc, but what do most of you use for DIY stands. Just curious what types people like, do they go expenisve or something cheaper and stain it? AM in the process of making my own right now. Thanks

I think the majority of stands are made out of 2 x 4 pine or fir for cost reasons. Then skinned with a fine wood to taste. Ipe' would make a beautiful stand and it is very water resistant!
