I am building a 600-800 gallon aquarium in the next few months. Probably start it in February.

I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on what types of catfish could go with I was thinking of a smaller type of TSN but I know even in a tank of that size it could be cramped.

I'm going to be keeping large central/South American Cichlids and maybe a some type of gar in this tank.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated seeing as catfish haven't really been my forte as I haven't had a big enough aquarium to keep large ones that I like until now

Thinking ahead is good but I'd say get the tank first - things tend to change along the way, even tank dimensions on paper and in reality. More often than not, sadly, monster tanks and ponds never even materialize... or run for long for that matter...

Once the dimensions and other stock are known, the tank's fish-tested with say feeder fish, and runs for a bit of time, it might be more reasonable to put our heads together. Just my $0.02.

As for the "smaller" TSN, you needn't to worry... ~99.99% of TSN we get in the ornamental fish trade are "smaller" - they are all a refuse, runts, dinks, mutants, deformed under-performing fish that grow slower and smaller than "the norm" and they are all Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum. We appear to ~never get anything else unless specifically ordered through a knowledgeable, honest to the bone, and anal importer, such as Jeff Rapps, Wesley Wong, Raymond Chan, Toyin of Rehoboth, and Co.

Darn you and your logic and reasoning. haha I'm just anxious about this build and want to put together some ideas. it helps ease the anxiety of having to wait to build it. But I have to close on this house first. once that is finished I plan to start it around march or april.

:) Patience and reasoning are great virtues that also need work and practice and free people from their anxieties :)
