I noticed that there are many types of FH, but are their aggression level the same or do some tend to be less aggressive then others. Asking because I was wanting to add one to my 250 gal tank which already houses a 7" silver aro. Also planning to add a black aro as well.

they are all vicious.
what youre looking for is a fat and slow FH and the tanks mates are faster swimming fish or bigger fish. You gotta work that out. Should have fast dithers too. Good size tank you got though. good luck

Mean aros can beat up FHs too

THey do have different personalities though so It is possible to find a docile one. but as a group they are killers.
I have seen red devils that got along with bettas... it all depends on how they were raised and the individual personality of the fish. But you must understand that all fh have enromously pumped up testosterone compared to other cichlids. if you dont want any problems get kkp or something. I like the mix of kkp and aros.

shoot i think the aros would kill the fh ...IF they are large like 18+ when they get really aggresive and turn in to killers.

I have a ZZ flowerhorn in with convicts, firemouths, 2x bp, salvini, pacu and gold nugget plec.
It is the boss of the tank but it does get along fine with them all. Only one killing (convict) in ten months from it and that was when I first bought it.
So I would say it just depends on the fish.

Good luck
