Types of fish tank lighting

I have an african fish tank that has coral substrate and am wondering what bulbs/ color/ type/ brand make the tank look best. The bulbs that will fit are 24 inch.

I also have a south american tank with light pool filter sand and am curious which bulbs/ color/ type/ brand you guys and gals recommend. Pics of your tanks with the lights on will also help me. Thanks!

I have no plants in either tank.

I prefer subdued lighting for South American biotopes. After all, their environment is not that brightly litted due to tannins leached by the leaves and woods found on the forest floor. Most fish tend to shy away from bright lights. You could try the pink lighting for SA.
