what would be easy plants to take care of and easy to find, and is there anything that i need to do to prepare my tank for plants.

depends on what type of planted tank you're looking to do. if you wanted to do a full blown tank there's lots to do. co2 systems, lighting, fertilizing, amongst other things and that's just to start it off. but if you just wanna add a few plants to your tank then you need to consider tank mates and what types of plants are tasty to fishies. my favorite plants are cryptocorines and java. both pretty easy to take care of. especially java.

Easy low maintainence plants, IMO, dwarf pond lilies, pygmy lotus, long leaf pond weed, cryptocormes, cabomba, elodea, vallsneria, saggitarias, java moss, and some swords.

Crypts, Java Moss, and also some bamboo is easy to maintain.
Just like the others said.

A warning though, Java Moss can quickly overrun your tank and become a real pest.

watch the cabomba some are very hard to grow try limnophila sessilifora instead grows like a bat outta hell and can grow in lower lighting looks the same i would stay away from the moss too hard to control also most crpyts grow slow so plant them in the forground

if its a new tank imo opion use eco complete substrate and a inch of sand or fine gravel on top 3to 4 inches all together with the eco you wont have add iron then get some flourish this adds trace minerals for the water including carbon so a co2 system will not be needed get a good light min 2 watts per galon up to 6 but the higher you go the more problems with algae , 65 watts for 50 gals is nice with about a 6500k rating stay away from the 10,000k bulbs don,t need it

also plants grow at night algae grows in light 10 hrs max and its normal for the first 2 months to get algae growth just keep cleaning eventually it;ll go if it doesnt cut the light back 2 hrs

ps most green plants are fairly easy care the darker the green the more light they prefer the same goes for color like red they need to much care for a begginer but they will grow just slowy just make sure they get nutreints

Hi. Don't forget to check out Anubias barteri (both nana and the usual one), the Microsorium (Java fern) and Cryptocorina wendtii (which grows slowly but steady w/o any CO2 even in the hard water we have here in the Holly Land :) ). And their lighting requirements are quite low, also.
Ceratophyllum (hormwort) should be your first pick, though, because it grows fast and helps to keep algae under control

Hiya Stas, welcome to MFK.
I had completely forgotten about hornwort.
