The reason why I ask is because someone gave me a lot of rocks that he used for an aquarium. In the past, I found some rocks that were put in my aquarium toxic; the water parameters were normal.

12 Volt Man Arapaima MFK Member May 24, 2007 6,669 1,046 203 canada May 22, 2010 #2 only those that will raise the pH of the water. so anything with calcium/magnesium carbonates (basically limestone) in them otherwise, rocks are inert and won't affect your fish. if you lost fish after adding rocks, and it wasn't something else that killed them, they probably raised the pH up too high.
