Added two 1.5” Uaru to my 125g and the single Severum that I have has been chasing them a bit and shimmying next to them. I had figured the compatibility would be fine, but maybe because they are close in size they are sparring a bit at least initially? The Severum is a bit bigger and was sold to me as Heros Severus although I think it may not be. Love the Uarus and Severum I’m only wondering how they’ll get along. The Uaru have stood their ground a couple times and the Severum doesn’t fight back when they do but for the most part the Severum chases them around.

I don’t know how long the Uaru have been there, but I would rearrange the tank some. More decorations around, make two areas. That may help them partitioning the tank. The Severus has had established a territory so it is a lot to ask from him to just give ITV up. He is a new territory. 6 foot tank should allow 2 areas. I think it could work. Both fish are relatively gentle, but also ate large and somewhat territorial. Good luck!
This is the first Severum I’ve had and the first time I’ve had Uaru and I’m already in love with both. The Severum has been changing color since the Uaru have been in the tank and he’s still chasing them. He comes up to the glass and I swear he’s looking at me. Are both species of fish somewhat intelligent? Their behavior and personality is phenomenal.
The Severum is still chasing the Uaru quite a bit. I’ve been giving them Romaine lettuce and this has increased the chasing off even more.
