hi all, i have a trio of uaru in my 180. ive had them for 18 months along with 6 geos, 2 sevs and a catfish. over the last couple of months the two biggest uaru have been laying eggs on a piece of driftwood every 10 days or so. they get quite aggressive towards the other fish and defend them well but as always the eggs are gone the morning after. now i am considering giving them the tank to try and raise the fry. i only have 1 tank so it would mean giving away my other fish. my question is what are my chances of success ?, is it an easy thing to do ? i understand that uaru fry live off their parents slimecoat for a while but then how do i care for them ? i would hate to get rid of all my other fish only to fail. thanks in advance. paul.

In any breeding project, failure is always a possibility. But you can't fail if you never try. You will have to make that decision. If you get a pair that will raise their young, feeding the fry will be no problem. Once the fry begin to grow, wean them onto baby brine shrimp and eventually flake food.
