Yeah, I have some crypts scattered along the bottom but I can deal with him eating them. Otherwise there's just one anubis that I'd hate to see destroyed but I can move the plant to another tank if he mauls it too much. I plan on taking his vegetary needs into mind for feeding time.
Seems like it might work out, I'm a little leery of the Jade Goby (grumpy big guy who stays in his cave most of the day) but otherwise everyone already co-exists so I think I'm going to give it a try.
Yeah I also have 3 Uarus in a 125 planted and they consumed 50% of the plants. Not to mention since they are constantly eating plants and driftwood they are constantly pooping.
I have heard them accurately described as Lawnmowers.
My Uaru lived with a bunch of datnoids and a bastard distichodus and she put the dude in his place and ran the tank. They are passive but will stand up for themselves when they have to. They'd work fine in your tank.
My tank has a lot of malaysian driftwood (big, heavy pieces). Do they just peck at it or will he manage to rip actual pieces off? I'd hate to have him topple the wood over and injure himself or others.
Sorry for double-posting, but I just called my LFS and was sadly informed that the Uaru had been sold already. 24.99 for a big, beautiful specimen. It just came in last night and I was going to have them hold it until I got out of work.
I've found that my Uaru eat everything. The larger ones will do a good job of scraping up your driftwood and they also will tear/eat pieces of sponge filters or pre-filters. They're kind of like goats. Anything they can chew on, they will.
