I didn't plan on it, but the LFS has a 6 inch Uaru all by himself in a tank with Africans and a convict. I asked what they wanted for him and they said he had been there for months and only wanted $12. I took him with the idea of housing him in a less aggressive 125 setup with an Oscar, acara, etc...Now that I sold Spizz my tanks and am just going to setup a 210, could a Uaru work with a JD, GT, Tex, Oscar, etc... in a 210? I have him in a 75 right now with cons, a 6 inch jag, and a 6 inch JD. He seems to be doing fine. Has anyone had luck keeping Uaru in with more aggressive fish?

mmm from What I've seen is they are a bit like Severums.

They are suppose to be very peaceful and laid back, but can have a nasty side to them.

I had a large Uaru (10"), and he paired off with my Severum. Togethor, they ruled the tank and bossed around alot of smaller bruisers like Midas', etc.. Only when the Uaru was with the Sev, he would have this disposition.. I made the mistake of removing the Severum, and your GT killed him over night.

So, if they are bigger, especially if they have a conspecific to help them defend, they can hold their own.. but from what I've seen, any equally sized CA/SA cichlids or larger, will dominate them and chase them to death.

They would do best with Severums and Rays in my tanks :D Evergreen has some nice big Uarus for $20/ea too I could combine em all up..

Let me know if you don't want it Troy I'd love to have it for the rays.. just picked up 3 gold severums yesterday.. still pissed I lost my big one I was going to breed it.

I have always heard they were pretty peaceful, but they are sort of in the grey area. I have seen them with discus and I have seen them with some vieja. I guess it depends on the personality of the specific fish.

I got it from evergreen. He was the last one left. I might want to rethink it with that GT. Although he is going on loan to Spizz to try and breed with an 8 inch female GT. That GT I got from you was fine when I had my Red Terror in the tank. She kept them all in check. After I sold her, he has been a real jerk.

they will not do well with the more agro stuff. they are very peacefull more so than a sev.

they always do better in at LEAST pairs and should not be kept alone.

by the way $12.00 was a STEAL !!!!!!!!
