Hi guys anyone experienced Uaru with pink underbody ? Pictures attached of the group and the dominant fish with pink underneath...(pink underbody is on the far left of both group shots) is it a dominant male thing with uaru.. ?
.... or something else.. others don't show any pink at all..
Also the mark on its side circled in yellow a birthmark, Ammonia burn, a scar or something different...?
have 3 with these marks but other 2 are very small marks and all have had since I got them as 7cm fry..
individual shots are taken in natural light and pink looks much brighter group shots taken under tank light.
thank you for any help in advance.Screenshot_20220709-115002_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220709-114859_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220709-114740_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20220709-114654_Gallery.jpg20220709_112513.jpg20220709_112420.jpg20220709_114050.jpg

I’ve had Uaru sp. Orange which had pink/orange chests. They can also have iridescent blue patches of scales lined in red or maroon/dark brown. Is the large spot raised/textured? It looks concerning. I don’t think I’ve seen one with patches that large. If it’s had them for a long time and they haven’t spread, and the fish doesn’t show any signs of distress, it’s probably just weird coloration. Usually if that were some kind of tissue erosion or disease it would appear and progress fairly quickly.

The only time I’d be concerned with pink coloration would be if you saw it in the nostrils or around the mouth, or around the gill area. This is usually a sign of inflammation and can be caused by high ammonia or nitrite, or a sign of an internal bacterial infection.

This is what my orange Uaru looked like.

Thank you for the reply. Beautiful Uaru.
The markings are not raised or textured but are iridescent white/blue.
