Hey everyone, I have a 60g tank heavily planted with Amazon Swords and a couple of Crypts, One large and one small driftwood, and gravel sub. Current stock is two fully grown angels, about 7 Red Minor Serpae Tetras, 3 or 4 Flying Foxes, a Syno Catfish, and a very small gold nugget pleco (abt 2 1/2 inches and I've had him about a year) which doesn't seem to be getting any bigger. Not sure on some of those numbers because the tank is so heavily planted. Filtration is a Fluval 304 and a sponge running at night for extra bio and circulation.

I have been thinking of getting an Uaru or two, as I've always been fascinated by them ever since my dad had them years ago. I just don't want there to be any casualties to the stock. Does everything sound like the tank could handle an Uaru or two?

The fish should be fine, but your plants would be torn apart.
Also, 60 gal would be a bit small for a pair of full-grown Uarus... one would work.

These fish are much more fun to watch and keep if you have at least 2. I had to separate mine due to one getting beat up too much and needs to be nursed back to health.

With them apart it's not the same the one left in the big tank seems lost. They we always together. It's kind of sad.

Your tank is a bit small for a pair mine big one is 8" and thick. Yes these guys LOVE anything green. I feed them my plant clIpping. All your plants will be gone. I even put a log that was covered with green hair like algea that was in another tank. I watched the Uarus eat it off. They cleaned the wood.

You could keep one uaur but it's not the same.

Sorry, but your tank is too small for even a single Uaru IMO. Also, it would eventually mow down all your plants.

If you want Uaru, buy a small group (4 - 6) and grow them out in a 125 or 150 with frequent water changes and good filtration. They love to gnaw on driftwood so I always have plenty in my tank. They will pretty much chew anything, including fake plants and sponge filter material, so keep this in mind when aquascaping.
