I have a 100 gallon tall tank that measures 48" wide x 18" thick x29" tall.

It has an undergravel filter that came with it that covers the entire bottom of the tank. In a tank with that footprint.........are two powerheads enough to make this ug filter work effectively????? Theres enough parts to add two more powerheads if needed

I am running a fluval 404 and a magnum 350 as well. Is that too much filtration????

The tank houses a 7" green terror, a mated pair of full grown convicts, a 4" jewel cichlid, and a 12" chocolate pleco.

I know that sounds like a recipe for disaster but they live together fairly peacefully. The Green Terror is the king of the tank of course.

Any Suggestions??????

Your filtration is good. I like the way it's set up.

yes, there was once a time when people used airstones to pull the water lol.

just make sure you keep your gravel clean

This is one reason I have no hair. I use UGF a lot, but with powerheads, air lift just doesn't cut it IMO. Using UGF's with powerheads, and 30% weekly water changes, I have consistently come up with 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and 20 ppm or lower nitrates. This is over a period of decades.
I do tend to run two pumps with a combined 8-10 times turnover per hour. I figure this way if one fails, I can get bet by with an extra water change per week until the faulty pump is replaced. Of course with this in place, I've never had one fail, lol. Although I'm not real happy with the flow on one pair, I don't think they're putting out even close to rated flow.

Agreed all my tanks but my 90 have an UGF they rule especially with power heads. I get sick of people bashing them.
