How do I make it stop? It's maddening! The plants are just being covered with it no matter how much i clean them off, they die and new leaves form but I don't want it to eventually kill off the entire plant.

Any ideas? Remedies? This is a nightmare.

Red cherry shrimp. Lots of them.

Oh wait, that's your stock list? Um... Hopefully someone else has some ideas.

they would get devoured within seconds

my lights are on a 12/12 hour rotation. and brown algae does not rely on high or low or any light at all to produce so the amount of light the tank is getting shouldn't affect how much is actually growing.

So no one has dealt with a bad brown algae outbreak then?

my ammonia is pretty low although I am still nearing the end of my nitro cycle, so maybe that's why I still have some diatoms but my nitrates aren't high.

No quick fixes huh? I am worried about adding random chems to my tank water as it's doing pretty well and I wouldnt want to harm any of my plants/fish still thriving

yeah, the link says this is common in new setups. so i would just clean off what you can and ride it out until it goes away
