Had this couple for a couple of months...they been getting along great, in fact, they breed and had a bunch of fry...I kept the fry with them as I do not have room for another tank (wife issues). No aggression even with babies swimming everywhere.
However, about a week ago, the female had eggs, but no fry this time, probably due to the still little babies in the tank (I could be wrong). I noticed she or he wasnt as diligent protecting the eggs as the first time.
Anyhoo, yesterday everything was fine, but today...FEMALE was nearly destroyed...fins were all ripped up.
As of now, I separated them... even though I will use them as breeders. Felt kind of bad in a way.
Any suggestions on what to do next? Also, any other fish I can house with them to target aggression somewhere?
Tank is 30g, no tankmates as of now...
