ok this is getting frustrating in my 58 gallon uruguay tank im always having some kind of ammonia lately. i performy weekly 25% water changes have 2 ac11 filtersi use prime as a dechlorinator and i only feed once a day. i can get 0 ammonia for a day or so then it gos to 0.25 or so its so frustrating tank is cycled. it happened wen i moved my ac110s only run about half speed due to an electrical issue with my apartment. i only hav 9 lemon tetras, 6 black neons and 10 gymnogeophagus growouts that are 1". theres no way im making to much waste can someone please help im at a loss here lol. what should i do

Howdy,

Your problem is filtration, and you figured that out yourself

Hang-ons are not the best in biofiltration, and your modifications apparently pushed them off a cliff. Try a canister. BTW: Filters use so little electricity that I dare to say your apartment's wiring is dangerous if two hang-ons blow it. You should have that looked at ASAP!

get some ammo lock filter media to place in your filter in a media bag. and the great thing about the ammo rocks is you can recharge them every month by placing them in a bucket of salt water for a few hours and than they are ready to abzorb the ammonia again. and maybe get some poress rock that bio can grow to eat the ammonia at a greater rate. thats the only reason you have an ammonia spike because the nitrafiing bact, cant keep up. ceramic media that you could place in the filter or even in the tank with the gravel

its actualy a fluctuating voltage issue from the power company i dont always have a true 110 at the outlet i do have a fluval 404 i could try but i thought it would be even worse could it realy be 2 ac110 isnt enough for this tank

Run all 3? Is'nt there a box? you can buy to prevent that?

im not sure if theres a box of some kind to create enough steady voltage i think ill fill the 404 i have with bio rings and run it and a ac110 and see what happens its just getting frsutrating having this issue

yes of course do you think a 404 with biomax and a ac110 with a sponge and bio will hopefully solve this issue and does running a spraybar reduce flow greatly
