UGH i think my fx5 died! Need Help!!!

Hello,
I was just doing a water change and cleaning my 2 fx5s. Everything was going good until i plugged them back in. One started and other one nothing. So i took the one that wasnt working apart and filled it back up and tried it again and nothing again!!!!!! Not even the motor making a rumble. Idk what to do? I just got it 6 months ago. Has any one had this problem? what can i do? i have the regular sponges on the outside and bio meadia in all 3 trays.should i keep it plugged in and hope it comes on? ahhhhhh help ME!!!

First is where did you buy it??? Most National chains will exchange it for a new one. Best part of PetSmart.

I would not leave it just plugged in, if there is juice flowing to the motor and it is not running there is a small chance that it could burn it up with disasterous results.

Call the manufacturer if you bought it elsewhere. I imagine it is still under manufacturer warrenty.

The impeller could be jammed. Take the pump off and clean the impeller well in the pump. Hold the pump up with the impeller facing up and plug the pump into an outlet. If it turns on, then you in good shape, if it doesn't, the motor is junk

i would double check the seating of the impellar as well

the impeller sounds like a good place to start to me also .....if not bring it back or call the manufacturer.

Thank everyone for ideas. I tried the impeller but it was not it. I called the store that i got it from and they told me to call back on Monday to speak with the owner about replacing it. It was the one that was the one that was 2 months old not six, so i think i just got bad product because i clean it every two weeks. thanks again
