Yes. Though I think that for an 18" wide tank two rows will be fine, so just a circle (no need for the extra row in the middle).

Hmm, now that I think about it it does make more sense. With less tubing and less holes the pressure will be greater so the flow will be a little better. Thanks for the input! :headbang2

Late to the party, just spotted your thread.
I have a similar setup in a 60 x 18 and found that a simple loop was not enough.

You definitely want to keep all the ends tied into a loop to equalize pressure. I am currently using a 500 GPH Little Giant 2-MD.
You will certainly want to have thorough and effective pre filtration to prevent solids from entering the gravel bed.
I used 5/32" holes, 2" OC in two rows per pipe, angled out and down @ 45 dgrees.

So far I have Gravel vac'ed and W/C once a month.
The vac picks up the few larger pieces not collected by the skimmer.
I am considering a slightly larger pump to see if this improves the skimming but once a month vac's are a huge improvement over my original setup.
Monthly versus weekly w/c is maintaining Nitrates @ 20 PPM or less.(no drip system yet)
I do service the Mechanical filtration every week. (more photo's in album).
Hope this helps. :)
