Strange, because I haven't bought any live rock in over 3 weeks and I'm just hearing it. I'm fearing I may have a mantis shrimp... will my snowflake eel take care of it? If not how could I possibly find it?

thats pretty cool.

It's pretty cool if I had a tank to put it in by itself. I don't think it's big enough to kill my Kole Tang or it probably would have done so by now.

Aren't Snowflake Eels natural predators of mantis shrimp?

Snowflakes are great at chomping up inverts, if he can find it lol.

I'm guessing he'll find it eventually. I don't have any small fish and if its in there it has to be small because I just as recently as monday had moved around all the rocks in the tank.

(My snowflake had managed to find his way into the sump so I was searching for him... got that problem taken care of though.

I dunno, I think depending on the size of the mantis and the size of the snowflake, there would be a real fight on your hands. Mantis shrimp arent your regular invert, theyre pretty damn intellegent.

Oh I definitely agree, but other than the occasional pop, There's no sign anywhere. Not to mention I thought pistol shrimp are also capable of making a popping noise?

And nasty SOB's...good luck.

If you can get him out...Ill take him. :D

If you're hearing popping sounds, then it's probably a smasher, not spearer, and might leave your fish alone. Although I guess if it were really hungry, it would try to attack them...
