I have a new florida gar, that is about 12". I'v had it for about 4 days now and it hasn't eaten anything at all. It's in a 500 gallon pond and all the other fish are eating fine.

could be used to live food..i'd try some minnows..then slowly wean him off.
mine would not touch anything other than fatheads, after some time i have them on market shrimp and hikari pellets.

I've been going throught all the same stuff with mine....I've tried all that and more and the only thing he'll touch is feeders.... I still have to try and get them off them but so far no luck...
Yep, like said, he was probably fed live food. It takes some time to get them to switch. You could try feeding him live crickets. They're much cheaper and healthier then feeder goldfish. The movement of the cricket might stimulate him to feed. Then it might be easier to switch him over to a floating food. It worked for my Florida Gar.
