has anyone done this, i have picked some large (ish) rocks out of just a normal river in the middle of the uk, i have had them out of water for 2 weeks and cleaned them

will they be safe to put into my tank?

Boil, or put them in the oven, and you will be just fine!

:iagree:

Pour vinegar on them. If they don't fizz, you're good.

The rocks would be calciforous...and alter the Ph and other paramiters....

What a nice level of precaution, anything i like i just soak for like a day or pressure wash and dump it in.

I would also like to add, put as deep a scratch in the rock as you can and put the vinegar on that. I've found some rocks that wouldn't fizz if you put an acid on the surface, but if you put a scratch in them they would.

I've also had rocks that altered the PH a bit even though they didn't fizz at all, so watch your PH either way.
