Planning to setup a 500 gallon in my living room; and don't wanna drill a big hole on my wall.
Does anybody else have experience with using an Ultima II filter in the living room? Can I use a union and flexible PVC for the backwash and hide and flexble PVC away when it is done?
Any input is appreciated.

Which model are you setting up? Yes you can use temp plumbing for the backwash lines. I have both running currently. The collapsible 1.5” pool hose works nice. Get s plastic hot water heater pan to contain and spliced water while hooking up to your backwash line

Thank you very much for the reply Justin! I've reading up your posts and admiring all the great builds you've done!
Good to know it is doable, but I did not get the part about the water heater pan. What exactly did you mean? Thanks again!

Btw, I have an Ultima II 1000 never setup, but I am thinking about getting a Ultima II 2000 for the 500 gallon.

Thanks for the kind words! Happy to help. Sorry about that I meant to say any spilled water. They make pans to catch any spilled water and with this being in your living room I thought it relevant. Temp backwash lines are awesome but there a bit of water that spills when swapping the lines out. A large towel works too.

You setting this up and time soon?

My 535g is going in the living room and I was planning on drilling a hole through the wall for the backwash line, but maybe I do something temporary. Considering my low stock I don't really plan to backwash that often.

Definitely in the next several months.
I was thinking to drill a hole through the wall too, but we might move in the next two years and I don't want to fix the wall when we sell the house lol. Also where it is in the living room are far from the wall to the backyard.

Good luck on your project and post up some pictures when you are done if possible. I've always been curious as to how ultimas are setup inside the house as opposed to in a fish room or garage. Thanks.

Not a problem at all Justin. I actually figured out what you meant with the pan. Thanks much for the tips.
