It's been a while since I posted a video of my pair so I shot one last night. The male is over 14" and the female is a little over 12". They have about 250 .5" fry with them and they will spawn again any day now. The male really hates the algae mag. and hits it hard. Part way through he hits it hard enough the knock it apart but I missed most of that as I was trying to get them back together so I didn't have to reach in there as that has become quite a chore. His teeth are very serious and believe me they hurt a lot. His jaw strength is amazing! Anyways I hope you enjoy.:)

BEAST!
I would love the tank space for some of these. But thats a no go for now. How long have you had them?

Did you get any of the black umbees? How are the stals doing?

I got the male April 30 of last year at
2.5" and the female several months later when they were around 6".
I did get some black umbees and they are awesome fish. They have grown as fast as my big male Sid and he has grown at an amazing rate.
The stalsbergi are much more outgoing now but they aggression is still low. One is much smaller than the other three and is the low man on the totem pole though and I need to move it before stress causes issues.

Thats some pretty crazy growth. For both of them! Whats the secret? Or are they normal fast growers? How do that blacks compare. Because IMO, you don't get much better than these two?

Can we get some shots of the stals (in another thread)?

that is really fast growth, that thing is a beast i cant wait til mine gets that big. ive had mine since feb. 2012 and hes doubled his size easily. if he doubled his size again i guess i would have about a 14" fish LOL. how often do you do water changes? what kind of diet is he on?

I feed NLS large fish formula and thera+ twice a day with 1-2 fasting days a week. They received 2 60% water changes weekly until the last several months and I have now bumped it up to 2 90% wc every 3 days. I do give them krill as a treat a couple of times a month and they get seasonal insects( they love millers, a small moth in my area). I also run a 2262 w/ a 1250gph powerhead on this tank so it is over filtrated which I feel is key. My temp. is set at 81 but it fluctuates between 82-84 due to the lights. They also get several hundred fry they have raised when they re spawn. They lay around 1000 eggs and I cull most of them after they have hatched.
