Had a group of juvenile monsters in my tank for a few weeks. One umbee turned out to be dominant and from prior posts I believe it to be male. Colors were outstanding dominated tank had no fear. Aggression was getting high so I rehomed everyone else and did a waterchange while I was at it. Since then my umbee has been in his cave when I'm around. Only see him out when I first walk in room then he's gone to cave. I feed him when I know no one will be around and food is gone when I get back but I don't see him eat. Color is very faded. Is this normal and if so how long does it take to snap out of it? He's about 5-6" gorillus black

I would get him some target fish, possibly giant danio or some convict dither... The shock of all the other fish and the power he had over them to nothing has probably rocked him a bit.

+1 on Justarn. He was comfortable with a tank full of fish now they've all disappeared he thinks some thing bigger than him has them all in hiding. In the wild the dominant ones will judge their surroundings by the amount of dither fish out in the open....that is until your Umbee is 24" long....then he wont care who's around because he's going to try and eat it.

Dither fish is what you need. They'll come out and he'll feel comfortable. The get big enough eat them. At around 8"-10" he shouldn't care too much about all that.
