Where the Parachromis roam...
Tommorrow at 4:30 my baby umbee is arriving it is supposed to be 2.5 " or 3" i hope its the later,i have been reaschering about this fish and have become really interested in them,hope everything works out.One more point i read that they have a pretty fast rate of growth,is this correct??Something like an inch a month??:headbang2
 
Congrats on your new fish. I think you are correct on the growth rates. Just remember to keep up with the water changes, they hate dirty water and it will slow their growth. Of course this is true of any fish as far as I'm concerned.

I usually do between 25-40% Water Change once a week,do you think i should do more when i get the fish??
 
That should be adequate but it also depends if there are other fish in the tank as well and if they produce a large bio-load....

When they are small it's not as much of an issue as when they are older and bigger. The fish is an open water predator and requires not only excellent filtration, but also large and frequent water changes. I had mine in a 300 gallon tank and did a 50-75% water change weekly.
 
I totally agree with mojo and it also depends on How much u feed. The more u put into the tank the more often you'll need water changes and vice versa:) can't wait to see pics.
