Hi guys

i would like some help my umbee definately has lymphocytis, all the time he is getting worse. i have tried all types of meds, salt and adding vitamin B to its food but to no avail. i know there is no cure and it doesn't kill- secondary infections kill at the end.

his gone all black and the lymphocytis is increasing. i afraid i am going to loose him. is there anything i can try?

thanks for reading, any advice will be appreciated.

Well u can basically diagnose your own fish from symptoms, and the site will tell u how and what to treat. Otherwise you can call and talk to a fish Dr. I know your not in USA but its a great site and very helpful people.

I have found, (believe it or not) that you need to do a massive water change, (hopefully it is in a tank alone) like 75%. The next day, do it again. Then move it to a completely different tank with different water params. (dont acclimate, just move it) Do a massive water change the next day in that tank. 75%. then the next day also. the 3rd day again, move back to original tank, and repeat.

I know it sounds crazy, but I had a case of this on some Ornatums. I tried meds, heat, salt, everything. Lost all 7 of them. Yay that wasnt cheap. Then had 2 Loisellei and 1 Umbee get it. They all shared the same tank when small. :swear: I heard this water change idea from a guy at my LFS, what the hell. What have I got to lose. I did it and within 2 weeks, the lympho was almost gone. I guess its the drastic changes in water params that cause the lympho to not be able to grow. I dont know exactly how it works, it just did. Today all fish are clean and looking great.

Good luck.

Lympho is a virus, which means that it doesn't go away...just the outward symptoms (kind of like herpes).

When the fish is stressed...or whatever...the symptoms can re-appear.

This. Not much you can do for it besides offer a stress-free environment and hope it goes into remission. It's also easily transferred to other fish/tanks so be careful.

also wanted to add his eats like a pig-and i love it- is this a good sign? not so sure about catching hime-not a good fish netter. his near 20 inchs so i may do more harm than good.
