i just wanted to post some pics of the male , its been about 6 weeks and he has grown alot . he is over 11 inches , he is very active . he has a partner but i forgot to take her photo , ill post that tomorrow ....

here's the female i got from ira , she is very nice and about 8 inches long . they have ate there wigglers twice . there's female umbees on both sides of the pair , im getting rid of them soon (i was going to do that today)and that should give them some peace..thanks for viewing , ill post some pictures in a few more months...sorry about these photos my battery is going low .
That male looks like a stunner. I'm sure they will get the parenting thing down before to long......there is a learning process. It's nice seeing some larger fish. That nuchal hump is impressive.
sorry if this seems like a stupid question and no offense intended but can the fish close its mouth?
thats funny , but he is totally healthy . most of the time he is swimming around constantly, he is never still and thats why his mouth is open .overfeeding , water that is too warm and some diseases can also cause this . i was checking him out this morning and he does close his mouth but as soon as i get near or walk by the tank he starts swimming and his mouth is open . that's scary i lost my 2nd umbee more than 25 years ago that i got from rare and unusual cichlids (shannon forest) . that fish was a bad ass , real pretty but one day his jaw got swollen and stuck and he died in about 5 days and that really sucked ......
