Umbee size

How wide does a male umbee get?
How wide for female?
Every thing I see talks length of these monsters, if I can get a pair I want to make a "cage" out of PVC so the lady can get away but should I just build one and keep updating the sizes? I'm thinking PVC painted or something with some fake plants sticking out something stronger and better looking then just light defusers

Umbees can get pretty wide. But once you get them to pair you have a 90% success rate of having no issues with the male beating female. I wouldn't worry about a cage. Use a divider untill they pair and have it handy for after they do

My big male is 3" wide. And he is only 15" long. These fish get massive and weigh alot!
