first off what is a comfortable size tank?
secondly what sort of turnover rate should i be using for the tank should it be higher than normal???
and finnaly does this mean i would need a larger sump??
thanks for ur help

I kept 12 1"ers in a 60 gallon with a fluval 405 until they were 2.5". I moved my breeding pair to a 180 gallon with a fx5. No problems. My male is 12" now

300g plus.

Its not only the massive bioload you need to contend with because of the huge amounts of high protien food but also these fish like Dovii are open water swimmers, thus require large aquaria.

Once you get into very large aquariums and/or use sumps and mutiple canisters you do not need to follow the 10x turn over rate. Regardless this fish makes huge amounts of waste

Depends on what you mean by comfortable. If you want to replicate fairly natural behavior I'd recommend an 8 foot tank. Heavyhitter covers it pretty well.

No, an fx5 wont turn the water near enough. If you mean at 1 or 2 inches, thats more than enough tank space. If theyre that small, Id do what a previous poster said about growing them out in a smaller tank. Easier to maintain the water and food that way.

With an 8 ft tank, Id have at least a 55 Gallon Sump.
