I got this umbee last month as part of a sale/trade and so far it's doing well. It's 7" eating well and territorial and aggressive. I was told it is a gorilla black. I'm just not sure. also as for sexing, the person I got it from wasn't too sure and it looks female to me. Any traits, features for type/sex traits would be rad. Ty

It could very well be a Gorillus, but what's throwing me off is the blue freckles. Gorillus don't have blue freckles they have red freckles. Although many Gorillus show blue patches or shading on the face. The actual spots or "freckles" usually aren't blue.

Here you can see lots of blue, but actually the spots are red.

And here you can see a gorillus and a "regular" or more Rio mag type side by side. Look at the spotting. maxresdefault (1).jpg

Not saying it isn't a Gorillus, just saying it more resembles a young Rio mag to me. Since their not seperate fish yet. Their all umbees so the lines can get blurred. IMO.

As for sex that's a tough one, I'll let some one else chime in on that.

*Not my fish, not my pictures. Thank you google. *

Lol, ty. Rio mag is a better guess, but it's the first umbee I owned aside from my 5 UB Umbee grow outs. Prolly when it more matures I'll get a better idea of it. As for sex I'm eyeballing female

I'm not gonna lie, ultimate blues are pretty damn stunning. I didn't find out about them until after I had purchased Gorillus blue's. Or else I may have ended up with UB instead.
